Hello! My name is Bethlehem Tadesse. I am a rising senior chemistry major and a non-profit and social innovation minor at the University of Maryland. I am a chemistry enthusiast passionate about sustainability and social impact. My journey is fueled by a deep curiosity for how chemistry can drive real-world solutions—whether in environmental conservation, water resources, or innovative material development. With a strong foundation in chemistry and a growing interest in nonprofit work, I aim to bridge science and community impact to create a more sustainable and equitable future. Through research, advocacy, and hands-on initiatives, I’m excited to contribute to meaningful change.

Lab Experiences

Throughout my academic journey, I have had the opportunity to engage in hands-on laboratory experiments that strengthened my technical skills and deepened my understanding of chemical principles. In my General and Organic Chemistry labs, I conducted qualitative and quantitative analyses and utilized various technical skills. These experiences enhanced my ability to interpret and analyze data.

Impact

I am passionate about giving back to my community through mentorship, advocacy, and education. Whether as a leader, instructor or advocate, I believe in lifelong learning and empowering others to create meaningful change in the world. Through my various roles, I have worked to support and guide my peers. My commitment to education extends to volunteer teaching, where I have helped students develop their skills in math and English. Through social media, I strive to raise awareness and mobilize support for critical humanitarian issues about the Tigray Genocide. These experiences have strengthened my belief in the power of leadership, education, and community engagement to drive meaningful change.
