In addition to my technical skills, I have been deeply involved in teaching, leadership programs, and giving voice to the voiceless. These experiences have shaped my ability to lead, mentor, and create meaningful impact, reinforcing my commitment to education, empowerment, and social change.

During my leadership roles at the African Student Organization (ASO), I had the privilege of serving as Treasurer and Social Chair, contributing to both the financial management and community engagement of the organization. As Treasurer, I managed budgeting, fundraising, and financial planning to support ASO initiatives. As Social Chair, I organized events that fostered cultural appreciation and community building among members. These roles enhanced my leadership, organizational, and teamwork skills while allowing me to create meaningful experiences that celebrate African heritage and unity.

Working with our advisor, Ms. Rachel, in my leadership roles African Student Organization was an incredibly fulfilling experience. I had the opportunity to plan cultural events and foster community engagement. It was rewarding to see our members connect, celebrate African heritage, and build a strong support system. These experiences reinforced my passion for leadership, building connections, and creating inclusive spaces for cultural appreciation and empowerment.

During my time as a teacher at March 8 Primary School and SOS Children’s Village, I had the opportunity to support students in their academic growth by teaching Mathematics and English to 5th, 6th, and 8th graders. In addition to delivering lessons, I monitored attendance, assigned homework, and maintained classroom order to create a structured learning environment.

These experiences allowed me to develop strong communication, leadership, and adaptability skills, as I worked with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles. Teaching reinforced my passion for education and mentorship, deepening my commitment to empowering students through knowledge and guidance.

Through P4T, I have had the opportunity to work with a passionate team committed to raising awareness, organizing fundraisers, and fostering community healing. Collaborating with the team has strengthened my leadership skills and reinforced my belief in the power of collective action to drive meaningful change.

Being part of the Impact Team for People for Tigray at UMD and advocating for Tigray through social media has been a transformative experience. This opportunity has allowed me to raise awareness, amplify unheard voices, and mobilize support for those affected by the crisis. Working alongside passionate advocates, I have gained invaluable insights into grassroots organizing, digital activism, and community engagement. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to advocacy and reinforced the power of collective action in driving meaningful change.
