Explore my journey through hands-on laboratory experiences, where I have applied scientific principles to solve real-world problems.

Lab Experiences

  • During my Organic Chemistry II lab, I conducted a series of synthesis and characterization experiments, applying key organic reactions to produce and analyze various compounds. I worked with techniques such as epoxidation, esterification, Grignard addition, iodination, and reduction, gaining hands-on experience in reaction optimization and purification. Using ChemDraw and SciFinder, I designed reaction schemes and explored chemical literature to support my work. Additionally, I utilized spectroscopy (IR, NMR, UV-Vis) to determine molecular structures, reinforcing my ability to analyze and interpret experimental data. These experiences enhanced my skills in synthetic chemistry and instrumental analysis, preparing me for future research and development in the field.

  • During my Organic Chemistry I lab, I gained experience in essential lab techniques such as recrystallization, distillation, extraction, and chromatography to separate and purify compounds. Additionally, I utilized Infrared (IR) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to characterize organic molecules based on their structural and electronic properties. Throughout the course, I emphasized safe lab practices, proper chemical handling, and scientific data interpretation, documenting my findings in formal lab reports. These experiences reinforced my ability to analyze chemical transformations and provided a strong foundation in organic laboratory techniques essential for research and industry applications.

  • In my General Chemistry II lab, I expanded my understanding of chemical principles through hands-on experiments in chemical equilibrium, acid-base chemistry, thermodynamics, kinetics, and electrochemistry. I investigated reaction rates, equilibrium constants, and thermodynamic properties by designing and conducting experiments that reinforced theoretical concepts from the lecture.

I gained experience using chemical instrumentation, including spectrophotometry and electrochemical cells, to analyze reaction kinetics and energy changes. Through experimental design, data collection, and quantitative analysis, I applied the scientific method to problem-solving and enhanced my ability to interpret complex chemical systems.

  • In my General Chemistry I lab, I explored fundamental chemical principles through hands-on experimentation, reinforcing key concepts such as stoichiometry, atomic structure, chemical bonding, and thermodynamics. I conducted experiments to analyze chemical reactions, gas laws, solution properties, and molecular structures, developing a deeper understanding of how theoretical principles apply in a laboratory setting.

Through data collection, experimental design, and quantitative analysis, I strengthened my ability to apply the scientific method to problem-solving. I also gained experience in essential lab techniques such as titrations, calorimetry, spectroscopy, and chromatography, while emphasizing safe chemical handling and proper waste disposal.
